Stockport GP Trainers

What our GPR's Say

This is what present/past GPRs have said about training in Stockport

Dr Sudha Subramanian  GP ST3-  The Village Surgery, Bramhall

I am very pleased that I got into the Stockport scheme following my hospital posts after applying for an intradeanery transfer. I worked for two years (flexibly for the first year) at The Village surgery and during this time I received excellent support and training from everyone and especially from my trainer Dr Riley.  The day release course was very well structured and I would strongly recommend this scheme to any one applying for VTS.

Dr Ankur Bhatnagar GP ST 3 Marple Cottage Surgery

My time at Marple Cottage has been a very happy one. It is a friendly practice, and has helped me grow and develop into a competant  registrar. It covers all socioeconomic groups , which means you see a good mix of   patients, which keeps it interesting.  Dr Wells , the senior partner is a wealth of knowledge , very approachable and what he doesn't know isn't worth knowing. Dr Johnson is an experienced trainer,  makes general practice fun and teaching enjoyable. The other female gp's are very friendly and always there to help  with family planning and womens health.  In addition I have been able to develop minor surgical skills and feel comfortable to do most procedures on my own.

I have very much enjoyed my GP training in Stockport and would recommend it to fellow trainees. The course is well structured and the 2-day Buxton residential is a particularly nice touch. I have felt well supported by my supervisors throughout the 3 years and especially by my GP trainer who has always been attentive to my learning needs and very easy to work with. With their help I had no problems completing nMRCGP this year and now look forward to my ongoing GP career.

DrLouise Allan, Ellesmere Medical Centre

“Having successfully completed summative assessment and MRCGP, I can thoroughly recommend the Stockport VTS. 'Playschool' day release was a welcome break and provided excellent preparation for the exam, and not to mention needed camaraderie! I really enjoyed my registrar post at Ellesmere MC. I found it a well organised, friendly, supportive practice and has stood me in good stead as I continue my career.”

“The partners are supportive and approachable, staff friendly, tutorials good preparation for the exam, well run chronic disease management clinics with able practice nurses, good use of protocols and audits, good mix of patients with challenging social problems.”

Dr Joyce Ameh, Marple Medical Practice

“I have had the privilege of being a registrar in two different deaneries, and I would definitely recommend the Stockport VTS. I was supported throughout the six months by my trainer and the course organisers at the day releasecourse. The course was very structured which I liked and encouraged individual participation. The lunches at the day release were great too! Stockport is also very well served by secondary and tertiary health care units.”
