Welcome to Cheadle Medical Practice
The Practice
Cheadle Medical Practice is based in a converted 1930’s building in the heart of Cheadle Village. The Practice area also covers Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle Heath, Edgeley, Gately, Heald Green and parts of East Didsbury.
Cheadle is a busy and lively suburban area close to the M60 and the A34. It has a diverse patient population with a mix of all ages, socioeconomic groups and ethnic backgrounds.
The Practice has consistently achieved excellent QOF targets and we are involved in several Prescribing and Locally Enhanced Incentive Schemes. In addition we offer a comprehensive range of services which include Chronic Disease Management, Minor Surgery, Family Planning, RU clear screening and Smoking Advice.
Educational Environment
There is a long history of training at Cheadle Medical Practice and all the current partners were GP Registrars at the Practice. We have a high success rate in the MRCGP and more recently in the nMRCGP.
We pride ourselves on being friendly, approachable and supportive to each other. We have a variety of clinical and administrative staff that are always willing to offer help to our Registrars. The Staff Doctors and Registrars are encouraged to become valued members of the team and they are actively involved in practice meetings, future planning and education and training. Each member of our Staff engages in the appraisal and personal development process
We take part in a wide range of educational events both locally and in-house. These include weekly clinical supervision meetings, away days and educational presentations. We also engage in regular Clinical Governance with a rolling Audit Calendar and Significant Event Analysis. All the GP’s participate in the PCT appraisal process.
GP Training
Dr Wilson has been a GP Trainer since 2005 and is an active member of the Stockport Trainers Group. She is an ARCP panel member and attends regular Deanery events. She is currently involved in the ST4 Pilot scheme for the Northwest Deanery. Her clinical interests are wide ranging but include teenage health and sexual health. Outside activities include netball, mountain biking and playing the flute.
Dr Mamelok plays an extremely active role within the Northwest Deanery and RCGP. She has vast experience as an MRCGP examiner and is currently the College lead for Work Based Placed Assesment.
Dr Mehta is also a qualified GP Trainer and provides daily support for our ST3 and ST4 Doctors.
Life as GP Registrar at Cheadle Medical Practice is busy and hard work but we offer an opportunity to experience many different aspects of General Practice. There is a full protected 1:1 educational session with Dr Wilson each week. Other members of the team also take and active role in tutorials and mentoring. We have desktop access to the Internet and actively encourage self directed learning.
Most of all we hope that a Registrar not only learns the art of General Practice during their time with us but also the importance of ongoing learning and creating a healthy balance between their professional role and their home life.
