"We are a friendly practice in a leafy suburb of Stockport that is proud of its 25 year history of GP training. Three of our team of doctors trained on the Stockport Day Release course and two of us are former registrars at Heaton Moor Health Centre itself! We work from modern premises in a pleasant area and value our close working relationships with an extended Primary Health Care team. Our patients access our services by means of triage and nurse practitioners. We like to innovate and are early adopters of new methods and technologies. We are sufficiently organised that, in common with other local practices, we have scored full points through the first few years of the Quality & Outcomes Framework.
We provide a supportive environment in which to learn and make it our priority that we help registrars with their preparations for nMRCGP. By way of example, Tim runs a mock CSA exam each year, for the trainers group, using a circuit actors to simulate the real thing. The practice's facilities include both a traditional library and electronic resources on the practice intranet. We share premises with Dr Dawson's practice, which also trains - our registars therefore have a companion from the Stockport Day Release scheme to work with. We meet weekly and organise our activities, to promote a friendly working atmosphere and our combined professional development.
