shastingsSteve Hastings continues the long tradition of training in this Practice. We have been training Registrars for over twenty-five years and have built up an excellent reputation for high quality training in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

As well as Steve Hastings, the current trainer, the other Partners include John Day who used to be a trainer and course organiser for Stockport VTS, Alison Shipston who also used to be trainer and Joanna Davie and Anna Webster who both are undergraduate tutors.

Cheadle Hulme and Handforth are very pleasant suburban areas. You will work at both our surgery sites, but be mainly based at our Wilmslow Road surgery where the patients vary between very high levels of affluence and areas of deprivation. This will give you the full range of experience necessary to go on and work in any area of General Practice. Cheadle Hulme and Handforth are also great places to live and have excellent transport links.

Our Practice is paperlight and we use EMIS as our clinical system.

We have an excellent nursing team who provide a large number of services including chronic disease management, travel clinics, cervical screening, triage and treatment of minor illnesses.

Our Practice Manager, Rhona Franks, will ensure that all the bureaucracy associated with your Registrar year is sorted and out and she will provide any training that is needed with regard to PMS or GMS Practice Management.

We have an excellent reception and secretarial team and as a Practice, have for many years achieved the Investors In People award.

As a result of our experience and commitment, we have an extremely high pass rate for the MRCGP exam and all of our previous Registrars have passed summative assessment. Unusually most of the current Partners completed their training in the Practice and chose to return as Partners. This is because we have managed to get the balance right between work and leisure time and have the management structure in place to ensure that Practice runs smoothly.

If you would like any more information on our Practice, feel free to contact Dr Hastings by telephone at the surgeries or by Email. (Steve.Hastings@gp-P88025.nhs.uk)

We welcome informal visits at any stage in your application!

I had a great year as a Registrar at this Practice. I had a lot of support from all the staff; they are a very friendly and welcoming Practice.

I had excellent training and advice from my trainer throughout the year. I also had lots of advice for my MRCGP and summative assessment exams.

I would highly recommend doing a GP Registrar post at this Practice.

This is a fantastic practice. I have felt supported and have received lots of training and advice from Steve throughout the year.

The rest of the doctors and staff are friendly and welcoming and made me feel like a valued member of the Practice Team.

I would thoroughly recommend this Practice to future GP Registrars.
